It might be the most important economic decisio n we ever make\, but most of us don’\;t even know we have a choice.&# 8221\; (Neal Gorenflo)\n\nAs “\;Death Star platforms”\; like Air bnb and Uber increasingly dominate the markets with a cheap-labor business model and traditional corporate structures\, more and more communities sta rt to build their own\, democratically controlled platform coops –\; with the aim of creating value for everyone involved.\n\nPlatform cooperat ives share democratic ownership and governance among the people who rely o n them\, especially those who contribute their labor and personal data. Pl atform coops are based on cooperative business structures\, very often dec entralized modes of organization\, democratic control and real-world servi ces or products.\n\nToday\, an increasing number of platforms are emerging worldwide. Freelancers\, artists\, farmers\, drivers\, caretakers –\; more and more people from various backgrounds start to unite in order to c reate value and share what they create. This movement is no longer a niche –\; it starts to reach out to all sectors of traditional economy\, ca re or education.\n\nThis event aims at gathering key players of the platfo rm cooperativism movement to explore shared values\, common goals and a jo int political agenda. Over the course of two days\, participants get intro duced into cooperative structures –\; from learning how to start off and run cooperative businesses to exploring visionary ideas about platform coop design and its impact on politics\, markets and society at large.\n\n This #platformcoop-event is all about shared ownership\, democratic contro l and self-organization\, with an extra focus on blockchain technologies t o enable bootstrapping of decentralized organizations.\n\nJoin us for one or both days!
